My vision for Charles County is one that will have County Commissioners that will have the ability and willingness to listen and communicate with all residents and operate a government that is open and transparent, so that all citizens may participate and obtain an understanding of all matters being discussed or proposed.
We need County Commissioners who will work with the residents to maintain our natural resources and rural settings by not rezoning and building outside our development zones.
We need County Commissioners who will instigate action to repair our existing infrastructure of highways and bridges and help revitalize our older communities that have been neglected in favor of new residential areas.
We need County Commissioners who will work with the Sheriff’s Department to reduce crime and make our neighborhoods and shopping areas safe by strengthening and motivating the department.
We need County Commissioners who will address the traffic problems on Route 301 and work with local businesses on that corridor to come up with a cooperative effort to solve this problem now. We need fewer studies and more action.
We need County Commissioners who will work with the Board of Education to attract and retain quality teachers and administrators and maintain the schools that we are now operating and building.
We need County Commissioners who will actually get an affordable housing plan in place that would make home ownership more attainable for all our residents.
We need County Commissioners who will realize that our aquifers are not limitless and cannot supply all our needs for water and that reliance on WSSC, who could cut us off at anytime, is not the answer.
We need County Commissioners who realize that our rivers and streams are treasured resources that draw people to Charles County and we must work closely with the Federal and State governments to clean them and keep them clean.
We need County Commissioners who will work with the Federal and State governments and major businesses to bring more jobs to Charles County.
We need County Commissioners who will look at all county expenditures and budgets and insure that our hard earned tax dollars are spent in a way that benefits Charles County residents and does not burden us with unnecessary debt.
